After a decade in the retail fashion industry—working for brands such as Krizia, Versace, Hermes, and Loro Piana, Hisham undertook a two year apprenticeship under Master Tailor Rocco Ciccarelli to prepare for the 2006 launch of Oumlil.
Hisham Oumlil was born into a family of merchants in Casablanca, Morocco in October of 1972. From an early age Hisham was inspired by the cultural crossroads inherent in the country’s traditions; rituals and aesthetics- from the Moorish influences to the western ones manifested in its architecture; interiors; music; dress and cuisine.
His profile and designs have been featured in fashion publications worldwide, appearing in GQ, GQ Style, GQ Style Germany, Vogue, Details, Vanity Fair, L'Officiel Hommes to name a few. The brand’s custom and ready to wear designs have been worn by a number of distinguished men in the film; art; music and hospitality industries who featured in several publications throughout the years past.
In 2008, Hisham received the FGI fashion award for emerging talent in menswear and had the honor of being highlighted for his expert tailoring and unwavering attention to fine details in Patricia Mears' "American Beauty," a book published as a historical survey on the innovations and aesthetics of prominent American fashion designers.
In 2021, the brand launched its first online shop.
