Bio

Hisham Oumlil was born into a family of merchants living in the cultural crossroad of Morocco. From an early age, he was inspired by the mix of traditions, rituals and aesthetics — Moorish, Asian and Western — flowing through the country’s architecture, interiors, music, dress and cuisine.

After a decade in the retail fashion industry — working for brands such as Krizia, Versace, Hermes, and Loro Piana — Hisham began an apprenticeship under Master Tailor Rocco Ciccarelli. Upon that foundation, he launched his custom menswear line in 2006.

Since then, he and his work has been featured worldwide — appearing in prominent publications like GQ, GQ Style, GQ Style Germany, Vogue, Details, Vanity Fair, and L'Officiel Hommes. The Oumlil brand’s custom and ready-to-wear lines have frequently been worn by a number of distinguished men in the film, art, music, and hospitality industries.

In 2008, Hisham received the FGI fashion award for emerging talent in menswear and had the honor of being highlighted in Patricia Mears' “American Beauty:” a historical survey on the innovations of prominent American fashion designers.

In 2021, Oumlil launched its first online shop; where the cultural influences of Morocco, and now New York, continue to flow through the brand.
